The East Sussex Foster Care Association (ESFCA) is an independent registered charity run by foster carers for foster carers and their families which often include ‘Children Who Care’ and ‘Looked After Children’.

The Association was launched in March 1993 in response to the needs of the children and young people in public care and the demands this placed on Foster families.  Since its introduction, volunteer foster carers have developed a set of support, advice, advocacy, activities and training services for their fellow carers, Looked After Children and their families in East Sussex.

There are approximately 460 children in care in East Sussex at any one time, age ranging from birth to 18 years old.  A lot of these children have come into care due to their experience of abuse.   Some have been physically or sexually abused, whilst others have experienced parents struggling with Alcohol and drug abuse.  Many of these children have suffered neglect.  We are keen to show these vulnerable children that with help, support and education; they do have A Brighter Future.
