INSPERATION PROJECT X FACTOR
We wanted to find away of inspiring children and young people in care, to have goals and beliefs in what they are doing. We wanted to give them the message ‘that they can have dreams, work hard and achieve’.
We decided that the best way of doing this was through music. We managed to raise funds to purchase 150 tickets to go and see the X factor Tour in The Brighton Centre. We also worked hard with The X factor Tour Company (Syco TV) and they allowed us to take 20 Looked After Children Back stage to meet the stars. More>>
HEALING PARENTS CONFERENCE
We organised a two-day conference on Healing Parents and brought over Dr Terry Levy and Michael Orleans from The Evergreen Psychotherapy Centre, Attachment Treatment and Training Institute, USA. Awards for all (Part of the Lottery) supported us in the form of a £10,000 grant. East Sussex County Council also supported us both financially and with resources. We were completely overwhelmed and received more than 350 nominations. We needed to find a bigger venue and East Sussex National Golf Club, came to our rescue and supported our charity to be able to achieve our goal. East Sussex Foster Care Association is committed to providing good quality training and information to our foster carers. We are all learning about the importance of attachment on development of our foster children. More>>
Matt Dunkley (Director of Children Services), Dr Terry Levy, Michael Orleans and Ben Vince (Chair ESFCA). CHRISTMAS PARTY 2006 We held our annual Christmas Party on Sunday 10th December at The Winter Gardens in Eastbourne. It was attended by over 70 Children in Care. The children were entertained with a disco and lots of party games. There was lots of food and then a visit by Santa, who had a large sack of presents for all the children. Christmas is a very difficult time for most children in care. ESFCA wanted to bring these children together, so they do not feel so isolated.
‘SOOKIE’ OUR ADOPTED PYGMY GOAT
East Sussex Foster Care Association has adopted a Pygmy Goat at Drusilla’s Zoo Park, in Alfriston near Eastbourne. We know that many Children in Care visit the Zoo and we wanted to encourage them to see ‘adoption’ and ‘being looked after’ in a positive light.
